An anek, plural anekani, is a type of creature that is in some sense a combination of two or more other species, either possessing features of both or able to transform between their forms in whole or part, and which has some sort of magical abilities related to its forms. The most widespread kind of anek is the turnskin (of which the werewolf is the most famous exemplar), which simply changes between two forms under some circumstances, but other types of anek include the tzanteii of Dverelei, the paques of Ses, and the raregs of Usm.
Different strains of anek are not necessarily related; "anek" is a descriptive term rather than a taxonomic one.
