Taxonomy refers to a system of classification, generally into hierarchical categories. Significant taxonomies include:

  • Etorical taxonomy, the most widespread system of classification of living things
    • Alpha taxonomy, the part of etorical taxonomy concerned with the naming and description of species
    • Beta taxonomy, the part of etorical taxonomy concerned with fitting species into broader categories
    • Gamma taxonomy, the part of etorical taxonomy concerned with the relations between taxa
  • Linguistic taxonomy, a system of classification of languages
  • Carminical taxonomy, a hierarchical classification of spells of some particular taxon
