Eieia

Eieia (pronounced /eɪˈeɪ.ə/) is a goddess of hope who originated among the Madican people of Eordi, and who has become very popular among members of the resistance to the onirarchs of Dadauar. Eieia is pictured as a beautiful brown-skinned woman whose hair seems to float weightlessly about her head; she is dressed in diaphanous ribbons of silken fabric, and is usually depicted dancing. Her symbol is a three-pointed shape resembling the end of a trident, or the Greek letter psi.

In the days before the onirarchies, Eieia was a relatively minor goddess. She had a few dedicated devotees among the Madican people, but for the most part she was a background element in their pantheon, one who existed and occasionally interacted with the other gods, but who had few if any ceremonies or invocations dedicated to her alone. Since her adoption by certain elements of the Resistance, her number of worshipers has increased dramatically, and it's sometimes said that Eieia is one of the few Dadauaran divinities who actually increased in power since the ascension of the onirarchs.

Not all resistance elements hold Eieia in equal esteem. There are some who hold worshipers of Eieia in contempt, considering them weaklings who need the crutch of hope to fight a battle that would need to be fought even if it were hopeless, or lackeys who want to cast off the chains of the onirarchs only to put on chains of gods. Still, not all the rebels are that extreme, and the worship of Eieia is widely tolerated even among most Resistance members who do not choose to honor her themselves.
