Achresis refers to any process which removes a living creature's agency without killing it. Some forms of achresis include eremization, transformation of a living thing into an inanimate object; encracy, the granting of another creature control over the subject's actions (informally known as possession); and devinction, the immaterial trapping of a creature within some other object.
