Happy New Year!

Post by Clé »

Like the post title says, happy new year!

This is addressed, I suppose, to nobody in particular, given that I'm pretty sure still nobody knows about this site and nobody is reading this. Still, after the hard launch, once people do visit this site, maybe some people will look back through the old news posts and see that almost a year before the hard launch I wished a happy new year to... nobody in particular. Okay, I guess that was still kind of pointless, but, whatever. Happy new year anyway. To... whoever chooses to consider this to apply to them. If you're reading this much later, which is almost definitely the case if you're reading it at all, then maybe think of it as a retroactive happy new year wishing that your new year was happy the year this was posted, I guess.

Anyway, progress readying the Wongery for its hard launch has continued. I mentioned before that the first article ever posted, on the world of Dadauar, was far too short at only 534 words. Well, I went ahead and expanded it... it's now 4036 words, more than six and a half times longer and much more acceptable. I do plan to expand other old early articles eventually (and to ask the other Grandmaster Wongers to do likewise with theirs), though it's not my highest priority at the moment. Still, it's... something.

I also, trying to take a glance at the old Worlds of the Week, found that that entire site feature was broken. Now, I plan to completely reboot the Worlds of the Week next year anyway, so this wasn't necessarily too important, but still it was something I'd have to fix eventually, so I decided to go ahead and look into it. Once I looked at the code for the World of the Week page, it didn't take too long to see why it wasn't working... the mystery was how it had ever worked in the first place. (I mean, it's not a total mystery; I do have an idea of what probably happened; but still yeah, as the code stood it didn't make much sense.) Anyway, it's working now, for what little that's worth, though I do still have to go through and remove those old images.

So anyway, the Wongery continues to gear up for its hard launch this December. Hopefully we'll have a good year with it, and hopefully you'll have a great year too... "you" being, I don't know, I guess the people who are reading this long after it's posted. Okay, I don't need to go through that again.
