The University of Lüm has, of course, many libraries, between them housing millions of codices, scrolls, and other texts. It takes dozens of librarians to run these libraries, and overseeing them all is the head librarian, Rasat Senelfaren. Rasat spends most of her time in the Daelon, the largest of the university's libraries, but she does visit the others for frequent inspections.

Rasat takes a light hand with the other librarians, usually leaving them to their own devices unless one of them is obviously doing something wrong. Perhaps her most valuable contribution to the library's administration, however, is her incredibly thorough knowledge of its contents and organization. Even other librarians will often ask her for help locating books on specific topics, or even specific books, and she always has an answer. Surely she can't possibly be familiar with every one of the millions of books in the library collections, but if often seems like she is. This includes the closed stacks that house especially dangerous books and are often hidden behind secret doors or illusions. Some of the other librarians know the locations of some of the closed stacks, but only Rasat knows where they all are (assuming even she does; it's not impossible that there are some that have been forgotten before her tenure). And, as head librarian, only Rasat has the authority to allow access to the closed stacks, an authority she seldom exercises.

Rasat is an alicund from a sandstone bluff, and the rough texture and reddish color of her body reflects that. She has an aquiline nose beneath prominent brows, and usually leaves her hairless head bare. She dresses practically in plain tunics and trousers, but is fond of jewelry and rarely seen without multiple necklaces, rings, and other baubles.
