February 26, 2026: Daily NPC—Aghdi Lummam

Though there are many makers of fine musical instruments in the Arts District, Aghdi Lummam may be the best. Lummam specializes in string instruments and woodwinds, but is versatile enough to be able to make other instruments on demand, although the quality of these other instruments may not be quite as high; a Lummam harp or flute is a peerless work of art, while a Lummam drum or horn might be merely masterful. He sells his work out of his workshop, which looks deceptively small from the outside only because much of it is actually underground, its walls magically protected from encroachment of the mire of the surrounding marsh.

Lummam is not only a craftsman of great skill, but a mage of no small ability as well, and he is capable of infusing magical powers into the instruments he creates—and is happy to do so for an additional charge. He has a list of standard enchantments with set prices that he routinely casts—allowing the enchanted instruments to glow with light, to project their sound over large distances, or to have certain emotional effects on the listener, among others—but he is willing to work out how to do bespoke enchantments for a larger charge.

A takin—a kind of meter-tall, red-skinned humanoid—, Lummam is tall and thin for his kind, though that still puts him well under typical human height, and has unusually long fingers that he keeps almost constantly in motion. He has a thin face with sunken cheeks and a generally lugubrious cast even when he smiles, and a shock of hair half of which he dyes blue and half of which black—undyed it would be gray, though it was black when he was younger. Lummam digresses often when he speaks, losing his train of thought and gazing at nothing before snapping back to the matter at hand, and punctuates his speech with frequent whistles. He usually wears tailored suits of white fabric that quickly becomes red-brown with sawdust from his work.
