The Wongery

February 12, 2026: Daily NPC—Acalal Huxi

One of Nungunny's less pleasant features is the large landfill in the southeast part of the neighborhood. The landfill actually predates Nungunny itself, having originally been outside of the city boundaries, but as people moved into the area the landfill was kept in place and they moved around it. A great expanse of junk and garbage in various states of decomposition, the landfill is populated by hordes of rats, cockroaches, and other detritivores, plus at least one human wizard: Acalal Huxi. Huxi lives in a tower he erected in the middle of the landfill, claiming that the collection of trash has accumulated various forms of elán vital due to the circumstances of its use and disuse and that it has hidden power he can tap into for his magic.

Despite his eccentricity, Huxi is a wizard of considerable magical ability, and of a benign nature. He seldom leaves the neighborhood of Nungunny (or at least not for other parts of Lüm, though he is rumored to travel to other planes), but he does leave his tower to stroll around the neighborhood, patronizing local establishments and giving away small magical gifts. To the people of Nungunny—and to those elsewhere who are aware of him—Huxi is often known as the "Mage of Muck", a title to which he seems to take no offense. People of Nungunny who require his services have been known to travel to his tower to request his help... although it means making their way across a field of reeking refuse to get there.

Like many wizards, Huxi uses his magic to appear younger than he is, having the face and body of a man in his twenties, with light brown skin and a round face with long, untidy black hair. He has high cheekbones and a nose turned upward slightly at the end. Huxi has a pleasant but somewhat droning voice, pausing to chuckle frequently when he speaks. He usually wears short sleeveless tunics and sandals.
