February 6, 2026: Daily NPC—Prince Gugorga
Prince Gugorga is the ruler-in-exile of the nation of Lwaranda, wrongfully ousted from his position and having settled in Claystone Heights in the hopes of persuading some of its resident adventurers to pursue his restoration to the throne that is rightfully his. Or at least he claims to be the wrongfully ousted ruler-in-exile of the nation of Lwaranda, but he has presented no actual evidence of this claim, and his story contains several contradictions with accepted history, as well as with itself, or rather with the various slightly different versions of the story that he has told at different times. Opinions differ as to whether the "Prince" is a scam artist hoping to con people into giving him a throne he's not entitled to, or whether he's just putting on a show. (The possibility that he could be genuine is not one that is widely considered viable.)
Still, Prince Gugorga is at worst tolerated by the residents of Claystone Heights, and beloved by many. He may be a fraud or a performance artist, but he is at least entertaining, and he's always friendly and amiable. He's also very free with his money, happily buying dinners and gifts for adventurers he likes—although where he gets that money is a bit of a mystery; he seems to have plenty of cash to throw around, but has no obvious source of income. For that matter, one would think that amount of conspicuous wealth would make him a magnet for larceny, but as far as anyone knows he's never been robbed—which under the circumstances could be considered something of a mystery in itself. Even if he doesn't have an authentic claim to a royal title, perhaps there's more to Prince Gugorga than meets the eye.
Prince Gugorga is a tall, corpulent man with smooth, very dark skin. His keen gaze is always moving, and he seems to have a knack for spotting things out of the corner of his eye or even sensing someone behind him that he shouldn't be able to see at all. He has a deep, full voice and speaks loudly and volubly, throwing his arms wide for emphasis, and he is fond of greeting friends with enthusiastic bear hugs. He dresses in colorful robes festooned with feathers, and decorates his braided hair with multicolored ribbons.
