The wizardly covins that run much of the world's politics behind the scenes have less of a presence in Fishertown than they do in some other parts of the city, largely because most of the residents of Fishertown are poor and there's little political power to be seized here. That isn't to say they have no presence here, however, and Erron Gaolen is a case in point. A member of the Aabelon, Gaolen uses his powers in subtle ways to better the lives of the area's residents. Of course, he doesn't do this wholly out of the goodness of his heart (though he is genuinely interested in their well-being); he hopes to convert some of the magic-using fishermen to his covin and built a small power base here.

Gaolen is acquainted and on good terms with Granny Varragon, who as much as anyone could be said to be the leader of the fishermen of Fishertown, but he has yet to persuade her to join his covin—not for lack of trying.

Erron Gaolen is a relatively young man with a snub nose, freckles, and messy sandy blond hair. He seldom wears more than a brown smock.
