January 5, 2026: Daily NPC—Leemond Everment
The government of Lüm employs guards who patrol all the parts of the city to keep order and watch for trouble, and Fishertown is no exception—it may not have as strong a guard presence as the districts in the center of the town, but it is not ignored by them. Of the guards who regularly patrol Fishertown, Leemond Everment is the one with the highest seniority and the highest rank. He supervises the other guards as they make their circuits through the area, keeping an eye out for anything that may be amiss and putting a stop to any illegal or dangerous activity that they see.
Or at least that's what he's supposed to be doing. In reality, Leemond Everment is in the pay of "Boss Ludy" Garrongane, the unofficial leader of Fishertown's smugglers, and turns a blind eye to her activities and those of her associates. He'll certainly do his part to stop other kinds of crime, or even smugglers who've refused to play ball with Boss Ludy, but he leaves alone anyone affiliated with her, except when he absolutely has to put up a show of enforcement because somebody's watching. (Even then, he'll find a way to make it up to her later.) In fact, if the PCs try to act against Boss Ludy and the smugglers of Fishertown, Leemond Everment will do his best to derail their efforts, giving them misinformation and false directions and basically doing everything he can to get in their way without making it obvious.
Leemond Everment is a tall, muscular, lantern-jawed man with large ears and straight brown hair. His ramrod-straight posture and no-nonsense attitude give him an air of command, though he can and does approach people with soft speech and a friendly smile if he thinks it will get better results. On the job, of course, he wears the uniform of the Lüm city guard, but when he's off the clock he favors loose linen trousers and billowing shirts.
