January 19, 2026: Daily NPC—Reder Dlannis

To maintain their lofty lifestyle, the residents of the Glades employ a great number and variety of workers and servants. Reder Dlannis performs a specialized service for the people of the Glades: he's skilled at soothing and working with animals, and he's frequently called upon to deal with wildlife that have gotten into the Gladers' estates and is refusing to leave. Certainly Dlannis does make a lot of use of magic to sway the animals' behavior, but he also genuinely loves animals and a good part of his practice is just knowing how to avoid startling the wildlife and how to get them to do what he wants by nonmagical means.

Because he was so frequently employed in the Glade, Reder Dlannis ended up moving there, living in a small shack at the east edge of the district. Despite the distaste many Gladers have for outsiders, they tolerate his presence because of the useful service he performs, and because he's at the very edge of the district where he can be easily ignored when he's not needed—he rarely ventures into the Village Center, largely fulfilling his own needs from the forest itself and traveling to other neighborhoods with more affordable shops when he does need to buy something.

Reder Dlannis is a lanky man with a deep tan, with wavy brown hair he keeps just above shoulder length. He has deep smile lines and creases in the center of his forehead, but his face is otherwise smooth. Dlannis's speech is soft and even; on the rare occasions that he raises his voice, it's for a very good reason. On the job, he wears a soft leather jerkin, short trousers, and boots; when resting at home or wandering through the forests outside town, he may wear much less.
