January 9, 2026: Daily NPC—Iriam Derrin
Though the most successful fishermen of Fishertown manage to amass considerable wealth, most of them make barely enough to make ends meet—and many of them don't even make that. Some of the struggling residents of Fishertown have to rely on the charity of others to survive... and Iriam Derrin is the single largest provider of said charity. A priestess of the Church of the Faceless, Derrin has made it her mission to look after the downtrodden of Fishertown and to make sure everyone gets enough to eat, and she runs a soup kitchen in the neighborhood where the broke and beggared can at least get a couple of good meals a day.
Though Derrin does receive some funding from philanthropic coreligionists, most of the ingredients for the food she serves come from local donations, as many of the less needy fishermen give her parts of her catch that they are unable to sell, or that isn't worth the trouble. Much of this food is on the verge of going bad—or has already gone bad—by the time it gets to Derrin's hands, but she has learned some minor magic to restore spoiled food to wholesomeness. The fare at the soup kitchen is often somewhat monotonous, but it's better than starving, and many people of Fishertown rely on Derrin's soup kitchen for their sustenance. She does have critics who complain that her soup kitchens draw in the destitute from other neighborhoods and bring more undesireables into Fishertown, but she would argue that even if that's true it's a small price to pay to make sure no one goes hungry.
Iriam Derrin is a tall, bony woman with a long face, a small mouth, and large brown eyes. She speaks softly and smoothly, often takes a long pause for thought before talking. She always wears the red robes of her order, apparently unbothered by the fact her raiment is usually stained with fish sauce and other unpleasant liquids.
