March 6, 2026: Daily NPC—Akka Ritsuri
While it's one of the oldest parts of the city and has been covered in buildings and construction for thousands of years, the Docks does still have some wildlife that lurks in the alleys or in the nearby sea. Among the most prominent are the sea lions, who bask on the wharves and whose barking can be heard from a great distance. For the most part, the Docks' sea lions leave humans and other ellogous beings alone, slipping away into the water if they get too close. A few people of the Docks have managed to befriend some sea lions to the extent that the sea lions allow them to approach and even touch them lightly. But none have gone farther than Akka Ritsuri, who seems to have somehow formed a special bond with the sea lions of the Docks, to the extent that they defend him from harm and he generally has a small company of sea lions following him everywhere he goes.
There may be something more to Akka's closeness to the sea lions than just his nature and personality; it's widely suspected he has some sort of magical influence over them, even if he himself may not be aware of it. (He may have some dile ancestry, but if so it's far enough back that he shows no obvious signs.) Be that as it may, most of the sea lions at the Docks seem to unhesitatingly do Akka's bidding. It has crossed Akka's mind that he could perhaps use his sea lions to help fight against some of the injustice and oppression that takes place on the Docks, but he is reluctant to do so, not because he doesn't want to make things better and not because he fears for his own safety, but because he doesn't want to risk injuring his pinniped friends.
Akka Ritsuri is a thin but muscular young man in his midtwenties of below average height, with dark bronze skin and shoulder-length black hair. He has a snub nose and large brown eyes with epicanthic folds, and has a tendency to draw the sides of his mouth back when he's thinking or frustrated. He speaks with a large vocabulary but a slight stutter, in a grainy, boyish voice. He generally wears ragged brown short trousers, sometimes with a brown smock on top and sometimes naked above the waist, and often goes fully naked when he's swimming with the sea lions.
