The Wongery

February 15, 2026: Daily NPC—Logori AcNala

Although many residents of Nungunny may work in the hotels and offices along the highway, the owners and managements of these establishments live in more upscale areas and commute to their workplaces, never setting foot in the impoverished areas away from the highway. At least, that's generally true, but Logori AcNala is an exception. A native of Nungunny—though only a first-generation Nungunnier, her parents having come from Gortaire—, AcNala started as a cook, but made enough of a name for herself and made enough friends for her to eventually open her own restaurant along the highway, the Green Grove, which has become very popular among travelers and visitors. The Grove serves mostly Gortairan food, since that's what AcNala knows best, but she puts her own spin on it and she does experiment with fusions with other cuisines. She's recently made a conscious effort to hire cooks knowledgeable about the dishes of other lands and to encourage them to try out their own contributions to the menu, with the intent of expanding the range of her restaurant's offerings.

Now AcNala has her foot in two very different worlds. She is a successful business owner, and hobnobs with others of that class, making connections and attending meetings. But she is also a Nungunnier, and still lives in the neighborhood, in a house fairly close to the restaurant, but far enough from it to be well within the residential area. She still participates in, and even sponsors, community events, and she gives discounts at her restaurant to residents of Nungunny—a policy that has had mixed results, as some visitors object to sharing the restaurant with the poor people of the neighborhood, while others enjoy it, feeling that it adds a fun air of local color to their dining experience.

Logori AcNala is a blonde crast with long arms even for her kind, and especially muscular forearms. She wears her hair in asymmetrical sidelocks, framing her broad-chinned face. AcNala speaks rapidly and with frequent neologisms, humming when she pauses for thought. On the job, she wears a green outfit patterned after traditional Gortairan costumes, with a full skirt and puffy sleeves; when not at work she prefers simple tunics and boots, the latter the better to navigate the mud of the marsh.
