The development of Streamside has not entirely destroyed the natural beauty of the area; the forest still stands to the north, and the lake lies to the south. And there are those who are keen to preserve and protect as much as they can of that natural beauty. Some of these have organized into the Starcloak Sept, a group of sorcerers who draw power from the surrounding natural features and who do their best to make sure these features are not defiled or destroyed.

The Starcloak Sept does not operate as openly as the Guild of Joy, but most people of Streamside are at least vaguely aware that they exist, even if they can't name any of the group's members. They do show themselves to deal directly with other groups that may have a potential impact on the environment, including the Guild of Joy—meetings between the two groups have usually ended in more or less amicable hashing out of their points of disagreement, but on rare occasion have been more rancorous.
