March 11, 2026: Graypool—Goods and Services

Graypool is primarily a residential neighborhood; there are certainly shops there, but for the most part the same kind of small shops you'd find in most residential areas, catering to the locals. However, there are a few goods the neighborhood is particularly known for. One is mushrooms; many of the residents of Graypool practice fungiculture, growing mushrooms in underground chambers, and sell those mushrooms to both locals and visitors. These include common varieties of edible mushrooms, but some fungiculturists here grow more exotic types, or even mushrooms with alchemical uses or magical properties. Another is alcohol; many unique alcoholic drinks are distilled in (or under) Graypool, including several varieties of craft beer but also absinthe, rum, and others. These beverages are both served in local bars and exported to other parts of the city and other cities in Djarvin; some of the more successful brewers even export some of their product abroad.

Due to the people's (alleged) connection to the fey and the forest, Djarvin is also a good place to get items made from natural materials harvesed in the forest, from rustic woodcarvings to such unusual delicacies as acorn jelly. Some of these items may be enchanted, either by the fey themselves or by people who have learned related magic, so Graypool is also a good place to acquire various nature-themed telesmata.

As for services, perhaps the most notable service for hire in Graypool is curse removal. Whether it's truly because they offended the fey as the residents believe or not, many people in Graypool seem to end up cursed, and there is a thriving mini-industry of minor wizards specializing in curse removal, some itinerant and some with permanent storefronts. If you end up cursed somehow and want to find someone to reverse it, Graypool is probably the best place in Lüm to go.
