March 8, 2026: The Docks—Transportation

Despite the low socioeconomic level of most of the neighborhood, the Docks are by necessity well connected to the rest of the city, since so many goods have to be transported to and from the wharves and warehouses. A major highway runs through the Docks going both northeast and southeast, and a spur of the railroad goes east from the Docks to connect to the main line in Bridgegate. All of these routes are very busy, with multiple large carts entering and leaving the Docks every day.

There is also a subway station in the Docks, but it is not used for transferring cargo; it is, however, the main way that the members of the Port Authority and other white-collar workers of the Docks who live in other neighborhoods get to and from their job sites.

Of course, the form of transportation that most characterizes the Docks is sea travel. Small boats and yachts may berth in Fishertown, Northshore, or other neighborhoods, but the Docks is the only place in Lüm where large ships can berth, and such ships come in and out of the harbors every day, carrying large quantities of passengers and cargo.
