February 1, 2026: Newbridge—Transportation
As the primary entry point into and out of Lüm, Newbridge is a transportation hub second only to the City Center. Most tourist pedestrian traffic goes through God Street, but there are plenty of other ways to get to other parts of the city from here other than by foot. From a major subway station near the north end of Chanter Bridge, travelers can go west toward the Arts District, northwest toward the City Center, or east to the Mills and East Island—though this last line is the one tourists and visitors have the least occasion to use. The train also passes through Newbridge for those making longer trips. And of course ships and boats traveling up and down the river can stop at Newbridge too—water travel is not as common as it was before the advent of the trains and flyaways, but boats are for instance still the main means of bringing lumber from the forests upriver.
Of course, the most famous and busiest route to or from Newbridge is Chanter Bridge itself, which is packed virtually all hours of the day and night with pedestrians and coaches.
(Okay, I said I'd have a name for the river by the end of the week and I... still don't. Hm. Well, there are certainly other neighborhoods that border the river; it'll definitely be mentioned again, and I hope I'll have a name for it by then.)
