January 28, 2026: Newbridge—Goods and Services

In terms of goods for sale, Newbridge has more to offer for visitors to the city than for residents. Certainly the street markets of Newbridge have a wide variety of goods to offer, but they're overpriced and of less than stellar quality, intended more for undiscriminating tourists with plenty of money to spend than for locals. Perhaps one of the most valuable services in the district is that of its guides; some of the most expert guides in Newbridge have extensive knowledge of the cities and may have useful information unknown to even most of Lüm's inhabitants. If the characters are in need of a translator, or someone knowledgeable about customs in a foreign country, Newbridge may be one of the best places for that, too; many such people live or have offices in Newbridge to take advantage of its status as the first port of call for so many visitors to the city.

Newbridge is another part of the city, however, that locals may be more likely to go to to make money than to spend it; adventurers with spare goods to sell that aren't of exceptional quality or value might get a higher price for them from deep-pocketed visitors than from most local buyers. And of course characters who know the city well can make good money hiring themselves out as guides, and possibly make good connections with people from other lands that way.

There are some things city residents do come to Newbridge for besides making money from visitors or passing through on their way to or from Chanter Bridge, however. Some of the theater performances there are worth seeing, and some (but by no means all) of the inns, bars, and restaurant are frequented as much by locals as by tourists. And of course the banks and related concerns here do cater to locals, and characters may come to Newbridge for a loan or in search of a good accountantSilver Square also offers these services, of course, but for some residents Newbridge might be closer or otherwise more convenient.
