January 13, 2026: Rosemary Hill—Encounter Tables

More so than most neighborhoods of Lüm, Rosemary Hill is filled with activity at all hours, and the possibilities and chances for nighttime encounters aren't that different from the encounters during the day—though nighttime encounters are still likely to be less frequent.

Daytime Encounters Nighttime Encounters
A local artist displays their wares hoping for buyers.
A resident of Rosemary Hill trudges by on their way to or from work. Very possibly they're some sort of artist in their spare time, but right now they have to pay the bills. A lamplighter passes by to tend to the neighborhood's lampposts and make sure the night stays illuminated.
An acrobat, animal trainer, or other street performer solicits donations from viewers. As the daytime encounter, but nighttime performances are more likely to involve fire or pyrotechnics or other things that show well in the dark.
A street vendor hawks some sort of food—maybe something as simple as meat on a stick or locally grown fruits, maybe some more complicated dish The PCs run across an important tool or material apparently dropped by a local artist or artisan and overlooked in the darkness. Can they find the owner and return it, or would they rather keep it for themselves?
A craftsman seeks buyers for their creations—possibly useful items like finely-made clocks or glassware, possibly strange gadgets of no immediately obvious purpose. A dangerous wild animal of some sort emerges from an overgrown garden. Maybe a boar or a snake; maybe something more exotic...
The PCs find a flier posted on a nearby wall or tree (or perhaps just lying on the ground) that heralds some upcoming show or event that may be of interest to them.
A tourist from elsewhere in the city wanders Rosemary Hill gawking at the exotic artworks. A looter searches the currently unoccupied parts of the old manors for valuables that might have been overlooked.
A pickpocket tries to filch something from one of the PCs.
The PCs run across a dangerous plant that was hidden in one of the Hill's overgrown gardens. Perhaps it merely has poisonous thorns or causes annoying itching; perhaps it's a man-eating vegetable monstrosity.
One of the Hill's residents was trying to use magic in an unusual way in one of their projects, and something went wrong, causing a magical catastrophe. This may mean a summoned otherplanar creature running loose and causing havoc, or it may mean an explosion... The PCs run across a local resident who is using the cover of darkness to build some huge and elaborate piece of street art or another grand project that they hope to surprise their neighbors with in the morning.
A sinkhole suddenly opens nearby as the rotting roof of a cellar or basement of one of the old manor houses gives way. Characters who happen to be close to the sinkhole when it appears may have to make a saving throw or skill roll as appropriate the game system to avoid falling in.
A wall of one of the old manors has collapsed, trapping someone underneath. Or perhaps if the PCs are very unlucky, the wall collapses on them as they pass by...
