By day, Fishertown bustles with fishermen, and Granny Varragon runs the area as much as everyone does. By night, however, is a different matter. Not that there aren't still some fishermen about—there are some sea creatures that are nocturnal, and are best caught in those hours. But the night in Fishertown is also a time when others are active in less legal pursuits. The docks of Fishertown are a favored place for smugglers to berth, being less busy than Lüm's larger ports, and with much less of a guard presence.

There is, of course, no smugglers' guild, no formal organization that all smugglers belong to. There is, however, an informal pecking order, some in the trade having more sway than others. And if anyone can be said to run the smuggling trade in Fishertown, it's Ludy Garrongane—Boss Ludy, to those in the know—, an athletic woman in her early forties who is seldom seen without a lit cigar. Garrongane poses as a fisherwoman, and does indeed do some night fishing to keep her cover, but it's far from her main source of income. She and her crew have their fingers in virtually all the smuggling jobs that go on in Fishertown, and any smugglers who want to do repeat business there know to give Boss Ludy her cut if they know what's good for them.
