January 7, 2026: Fishertown—Goods and Services
I will not include prices at this time because I... actually don't know what currency is used in the country of Djarvin? Hm... that's something I should probably figure out. When I do, I may retroactively add prices, but for now, here are some goods and services available in Fishertown:
The obvious answer is, of course, fish. Well, seafood in general; there are also fishermen who specialize in shellfish and in other marine resources. Fishertown isn't the only place you can buy fish, of course; shops elsewhere in the city certainly sell fish as well; but they get their fish from here, and Fishertown is where you go if you want really fresh fish—or if you want to pay wholesale prices.
But that's not the only resource available here, of course. As mentioned previously, because Fishertown is one of the oldest parts of the city, historical artifacts occasionally turn up here, and some people may (and university archæologists not infrequently do) visit the area just to search for those.
There are also some fishing-related tools and goods available in Fishertown that adventurers might find other uses for—nets, fishhooks, and even lobster cages are items that could be put to creative purposes, and are readily obtainable here.
Then, too, a traveler might have reason to want to make a short boat jaunt, and may be able to persuade a fisherman to take them where they need to go, or to loan them their vessel. For longer journeys, of course, they'd be better off hiring a ship at the main port, but it might be preferable to hire a fisherman's smaller boat if they want to be less conspicuous—or to pay less. Also, the fishermen are often well acquainted with the surrounding waters, and with what lies beneath them, and there are certainly circumstances under which they knowledge may be useful.
Finally, because of its docks and because it's often overlooked by other residents of the city, Fishertown tends to be a favored center of operation for smugglers. Characters with the right underworld connections may be able to find black market goods in this neighborhood—or possibly to arrange to have something specific smuggled in or out of Lüm.
