You don't have to create an article in the Game main namespace to create an article in a subspace.  However, it is recommended that you do so, because if you don't then the tabs for subspace articles won't show up.  The main Game page for your article doesn't have to go into detail, and may for instance say only what subspaces currently have content.
As explained in the editing guidelines, however, even if you only want to have game statistics for a single game, it's generally a good idea to create pages for the full "chain" of namespaces leading to it.  For instance, if you want to have a page for game statistics for the subject of your article for the Year Zero Engine, which would be at Game:RPG:Zero:((your article title)), it's recommended—though not required—that you also create pages for Game:RPG:((your article title)) and Game:((your article title)).  The reason for this is that if those pages don't exist, then your Year Zero Engine page won't be accessible through the tabs at the top of the page, and can only be reached by typing in the full page name or by direct links.

Once you've written an article on the Public Wongery, you can create a Game page for that article by using the searchbox to search for "Game:((your article name))", and then clicking the link to create the page.  For example, if you have an article called "Wallacio the Bleak", then you can create a Game page for that article by just searching for "Game:Wallacio the Bleak". (There's a more user-friendly way of creating these pages in the works, but the search-box method is a workaround for now.)  The same method works to create articles within the subspaces for specific types of game, or specific games; to continue our example, you could create an RPG page for Wallacio the Bleak by searching for "Game:RPG:Wallacio the Bleak", and a page for the character's GURPS statistics by searching for "Game:RPG:GURPS:Wallacio the Bleak".

This namespace is for including information about how to use your content in games.

Articles in this top-level namespace won't generally have any sort of game statistics. Rather, the details would go in a subspace within the Game namespace, and the page at this level would only give very broad advice about using the material in games, and/or state what particular games material currently exists for. There are currently six subspaces within the Gamespace, each of which will eventually be further divided into lower-level subspaces for specific games:

Game:RPG
Role-playing games
Game:CCG
Customizable card games
Game:War
Miniatures games and other war games
Game:Board
Board games
Game:Card
Card games (other than CCGs)
Game:Dice
Dice games
